Made with a silky cashew milk base and finished with homemade black sesame cold foam, it’s a drink that’s both visually dramatic and incredibly, deliciously spooky.

The Recipe

INGREDIENTS

1/4 cup black sesame seeds

1 cup water for black sesame syrup

3/4 cup maple syrup

1 tbsp miso and a pinch of salt

1 cup cashew milk (+1 tbsp for cream top)

2 tbsp heavy cream

1.5 tsp more than matcha and 1/4 cup hot water

Black Sesame Matcha Latte

Prepare the Black Sesame Syrup: Lightly toast the black sesame seeds and blend them into a fine powder (can also just use black sesame powder). Combine into a pot with water maple syrup, miso, and a pinch of salt. Simmer for 10-15 minutes then strain into a jar.

Prepare the Matcha: Sift 1.5 tsp of our matcha powder into a bowl. Add ¼ cup of hot, filtered water (160°F). Whisk until microfoam top layer forms.

Black Sesame Matcha Latte

Prepare the Base of the Drink: Into a glass over ice, add 1 cup cashew milk and 1-2 tbsp black sesame syrup, and top with your matcha.

Form Your Cream Top: Froth 2 tbsp heavy cream with 1 tbsp cashew milk and 1 tbsp black sesame syrup. Pour over base and Enjoy!
